QUESTION: Which files can be shredded, and how is it done?

ANSWER:

Most files on a user's computer can be shredded. To shred a file:

Step 1:
Select Encrypt & Shred Files from the StealthRay main menu.

Step 2:
From the drop-down menu, select the type of files to search for.

Step 3:
From the displayed directory, locate and select the file(s) to shred.

Step 5:
Click Shred.

Step 6:
Confirm the file erasure by clicking Yes.

Note that, depending on search method, certain files may be excluded from the file search and therefore cannot be shredded:

If the user selects the All Files, Categories, By Extension, By Filename, By Directory, or Free Space file view, no files with system- or hidden attributes, will be returned as file search results. Nor will files located in the Windows directory.

If History is the chosen view the above restrictions do not apply, and any files that fit the search criteria will be returned. For example, if choosing the item Windows/.TMP Files the search will return all .tmp files, even if they are located in the Windows directory. Similarly, Windows/Thumbnail Cache will return all thumbs.db files — even though they are hidden files and thus excluded from all other file views.
